Qualified Sahuarita residents interested in running for Town Council in the fall of 2022 may make an appointment with the Town Clerk’s Office to pick up a Candidate Handbook by calling 520.822.8804. Interested candidates may also review the information online at www.sahuaritaaz.gov/elections.
Four Council seats will be filled in 2022; three, 4-year terms and one, 2-year term are available. A candidate may run for either a 4-year term or a 2-year term, but not both. A candidate for Council must be a qualified elector at the time of election, be 18 years of age or older, and have resided in Sahuarita for at least one year preceding the election.
Filing a Statement of Interest form, securing the required number of signatures on a nomination petition, and filing nomination papers enables a resident to run as a candidate in the Primary Election, which will be held August 2, 2022. The number of signatures required is at least 271 and not more than 541.
Candidates may turn in nomination papers from 8 a.m. on March 7, 2022, to 5 p.m. on April 4, 2022.
