[ARCHIVED] Sahuarita Hires New Town Manager

The Sahuarita Town Council voted unanimously to hire Shane Dille as town manager at a special town council meeting following an executive session on Jan. 28. The decision to hire Dille comes after a nationwide search over the course of several months. Dille presently serves as the deputy city manager for Flagstaff, Arizona where he has served for six years. He also notably served as the city manager of Nogales, Arizona from May of 2010 to February of 2016.

Mayor Tom Murphy notes that Dille’s application stood out among more than 30 other applications. “We are excited about the prospect of having someone with Shane’s experience in our leadership,” Murphy said. “He sees Sahuarita as I do--a place with a great sense of community and future potential.”

Dille says that people are impacted most profoundly at the local level, and that good governance, transparency, and community engagement are crucial to increasing quality of life. “I’m excited to join Sahuarita’s team where these ideals are pursued with enthusiasm,” Dille said. “I’m humbled by this opportunity to serve, and grateful to the Council for their confidence.”

Dille will start on Feb. 14 and take the reins from Finance Director, A.C. Marriotti, who has served as interim town manager after the departure of Town Manager Kelly Udall over the summer.
