[ARCHIVED] Sahuarita Road Construction Update – Tuesday 07/15/14

This is the July 15, 2014 construction update for the Sahuarita Road Phase II Project.

This week, within the Segment 2A and 2B Projects, crews continue installation of art motifs on the westbound bridge. Until the motifs are installed, the westbound bridge sidewalk remains closed to pedestrians. Pedestrians should use the eastbound bridge as an alternative route. Crews will also finish installing the new decorative rock along Sahuarita Road and the realigned Nogales Highway. The rock installations will require temporary lane shifts.

The Segment 2C Project, is the final portion of the Sahuarita Road Phase II project between Nogales Highway and the Eastern Town Limits (just west of Country Club Road). Ongoing work in this area includes an extension on the existing concrete box culvert west of Delgado Road, the installation of new eastbound concrete sidewalks, and grading/preparation work for new westbound travel lanes.

Paving and temporary striping of the new eastbound lanes, between the UPRR tracks and Delgado Road has been completed. Beginning Thursday, July 17th all Sahuarita Road traffic will be shifted to the new eastbound lanes.

As part of the ongoing construction efforts, drivers should be aware of all traffic control devices/signage and all speed limit reductions, as large equipment may be working near the roadways.

A summary of the anticipated short-term (2-3 week) construction activities can be seen in the July 15, 2014 Look Ahead Schedule
