[ARCHIVED] Sahuarita Road Construction Update – Tuesday 09/02/14

This is the September 2, 2014 construction update for the Sahuarita Road Phase II Project.

This week, only minor clean-up activities are occurring within the Segment 2A and 2B Projects. The new Sahuarita Road and Nogales Highway improvements were deemed substantially complete in August 2014.

Within the Segment 2C Project, specifically between the UPRR tracks and Delgado Road, all Sahuarita Road traffic has been shifted to the new eastbound lanes. This traffic shift is allowing for the construction of the future westbound lanes. Ongoing work includes the installation of new eastbound concrete sidewalks, preparation for new westbound concrete curbs, extensions of existing concrete box culverts near Delgado Road and Santa Rita Road, and installation of utility sleeves and drainage culverts under the new westbound travel lanes. In the upcoming weeks, work will also begin on the new at-grade railroad crossing, which will include a temporary construction zone lane shift.

As part of the ongoing construction efforts, drivers should be aware of all traffic control devices/signage and all speed limit reductions, as large equipment may be working near the roadways.

A summary of the anticipated short-term (2-3 week) construction activities can be seen in the September 2, 2014 Look Ahead Schedule
