[ARCHIVED] Sahuarita Road Construction Update – Tuesday 2/3/15

This is the February 3, 2015 construction update for the Sahuarita Road Phase II Project.

The Segment 2A (Sahuarita Road) and 2B (Nogales Highway) Projects were substantially completed in August 2014.

Within the Segment 2C Project, crews are installing new median concrete curb near the railroad tracks and preparing to pave the new eastbound lanes (in the vicinity of Delgado Road). Weather permitting, the paving is scheduled for Friday, February 6, 2015. Delgado Road will be closed during the paving operations - please use an alternative route to avoid the intersection. The intersection will be reopened late Friday, upon completion of the work. Access to Walden Grove High School will be maintained throughout the paving operations.

Once paved, all traffic is anticipated to be switched to the new eastbound lanes (in the vicinity of Delgado Road) on Monday, February 9, 2015. This temporary lane shift will allow for construction of the new westbound lanes between Delgado Road and Country Club Road.

Between the railroad tracks and Delgado Road, all Sahuarita Road traffic has been shifted to the new/permanent travel lanes, separated by a new raised median. Temporary construction zone lane shifts and speed limit reductions remain in place, allowing for installation of the new landscaping, irrigation along the new roadway.

As part of the ongoing construction efforts, drivers should be aware of all traffic control devices/signage and all speed limit reductions, as large equipment may be working near the roadways.

A summary of the anticipated short-term (2-3 week) construction activities can be seen in the February 3, 2015 Look Ahead Schedule.
