[ARCHIVED] Sahuarita Road Construction Update – Tuesday 03/17/15

This is the March 17, 2015 construction update for the Sahuarita Road Phase II Project.

The Segment 2A (Sahuarita Road) and 2B (Nogales Highway) Projects were substantially completed in August 2014.

Within the Segment 2C Project, crews are installing new sidewalks/curb access ramps, new landscaping, and a new irrigation system along the roadway corridor.

In the area between Santa Rita Road and County Club Road, all traffic has been temporarily routed to the new eastbound lanes. This temporary lane shift is allowing for construction of the new westbound lanes between Delgado Road and Country Club Road. Over the next week, crews will finishing the aggregate base course, and weather permitting, will pave the new Sahuarita Road westbound lanes on Thursday, March 19th. Vehicular access will be maintained during the paving operations, but minor delays and occasion flaggers/lane shifts should be anticipated.

Upon completion of the initial paving between Santa Rita Road and Country Club Road, all traffic will be shifted to their ultimate lane configurations, with eastbound and westbound movements separated by the new median. This lane shift is planned for mid-day on Monday, March 23, 2015.

Throughout the project limits, occasional/temporary construction zone lane shifts and speed limit reductions remain in place. As part of the ongoing construction efforts, drivers should be aware of all traffic control devices/signage and all speed limit reductions, as large equipment may be working near the roadways.

A summary of the anticipated short-term (2-3 week) construction activities can be seen in the March 17, 2015 Look Ahead Schedule.
