[ARCHIVED] Sahuarita Road Construction Update – Tuesday 04/07/15

This is the April 7, 2015 construction update for the Sahuarita Road Phase II Project.

The Segment 2A (Sahuarita Road) and 2B (Nogales Highway) Projects were substantially completed in August 2014.

Within the Segment 2C Project, crews are installing new sidewalks/curb access ramps, new landscaping, and a new irrigation system along the roadway corridor.

In the area between the railroad tracks and County Club Road, all traffic has been shifted to the ultimate lane configurations, with eastbound and westbound movements separated by a new raised median. Crews are finishing the slope grading and preparing for the final 2" lift of rubberized asphalt to be installed within the new Sahuarita Road travel lanes. Weather permitting, the final paving operations are anticipated to take place the week of April 20th. In advance of the final pave, a minor eastbound lane taper was paved on April 7th. Vehicular access will be maintained during the final paving operations, but minor delays and occasion flaggers/lane shifts should be anticipated.

Throughout the project limits, occasional/temporary construction zone lane shifts and speed limit reductions remain in place. As part of the ongoing construction efforts, drivers should be aware of all traffic control devices/signage and all speed limit reductions, as large equipment may be working near the roadways.

A summary of the anticipated short-term (2-3 week) construction activities can be seen in the April 7, 2015 Look Ahead Schedule.
