Beginning in May 2015, the Town of Sahuarita will be replacing the Pima Mine Road Bridge across the Santa Cruz River, as part of its 5-year Capital Improvement Plan. Major construction is anticipated to begin in May 2015 with an anticipated duration of approximately 14 months (completion in August 2016).
The project will correct the structural deficiencies of the existing bridge, eliminate the existing 20-ton load restriction, provide additional travel lanes, new bicycle lanes, new sidewalks, and new waterline crossings. The project limits extend approximately 1000’ feet on each side of the Santa Cruz River.
Pima Mine Road is anticipated to remain open to vehicular traffic throughout construction, although intermittent lane shifts, flaggers, reduced speed limits and/or other temporary traffic control measures will be implemented within the construction zone.
Project status updates and weekly look-ahead schedules will be added to the Town’s website as the construction activities progress. Check back later or use the "Notify Me" tool to sign-up for automatic notifications pertaining to the Town’s projects.
