[ARCHIVED] Sahuarita Road Construction Update – Tuesday 04/28/15

This is the April 28, 2015 construction update for the Sahuarita Road Phase II Project.

The Segment 2A (Sahuarita Road) and 2B (Nogales Highway) Projects were substantially completed in August 2014.

Within the Segment 2C Project, all traffic has been shifted to the ultimate lane configurations, with eastbound and westbound movements separated by a new raised median.

This week crews will be paving the final 2-inch layer of rubberized asphalt to be within the new Sahuarita Road turn lanes, intersections, and driveways. By the end of the week, initial pavement markings will be installed. Vehicular access will be maintained during the final paving operations, but minor delays and occasion flaggers/lane shifts should be anticipated. Other ongoing work includes the installation of new landscaping and irrigation system along the roadway corridor.

Throughout the project limits, occasional/temporary construction zone lane shifts and speed limit reductions remain in place. As part of the ongoing construction efforts, drivers should be aware of all traffic control devices/signage and all speed limit reductions, as large equipment may be working near the roadways.

A summary of the anticipated short-term (2-3 week) construction activities can be seen in the April 21, 2015 Look Ahead Schedule.
