Project Description:
The northbound and southbound bridge decks will be replaced and the southbound side of the bridge will be widened. Additional work consists of constructing median crossover roadway (for moving traffic from NB to SB and vice versa when work is happening on those stretches), paving of the I-19 mainline of the project, signing, striping, guardrail and seeding.
The General Contractor for the project is FNF Construction. Work started on June 19, 2019 and is expected to be complete in mid-September 2020.
The estimated cost of the construction is approximately $6 million.
Future Impacts to Sahuarita Residents:
When the widening occurs ADOT will need to install additional piers to support the expanded roadway. The portion of El Toro Road under I-19 may be closed and a detour implemented during this work. The Contractor currently anticipates that when this work occurs there may be seven days (not necessarily consecutive) of road closures and detours. A minimum of two weeks advance notice shall be provided before any closure occurs.
