Mask up, Sahuarita! - Community Cooperation Needed
The past ten months have been a test of our healthcare system, our economy, our resolve, and our community spirit. But despite the challenges we’ve faced and those ahead of us still, I know that we will prevail and return stronger. In order to do this, we must remain diligent. Pima County has asked that we help them by reminding our residents what you can do to help minimize the spread of COVID-19.
The town has sought to improvise and adapt to the circumstances that COVID-19 has brought us. We’ve re-invented our signature events to align with public health recommendations. We’ve spent countless hours on business outreach and have established the Business Safety and Recovery Program. In addition to what we can and will do as a town, I want to ask something also of you, our community residents. I want to personally ask that all of you continue be considerate of your family, friends and neighbors by being conscientious in your actions and how they may affect the health of those around you.
We understand that for most of us, we are experiencing some “pandemic fatigue,” but it is more important than ever to continue your efforts of responsibly following CDC guidelines and the recommendations of health professionals. It does appear that we are beginning to see some light at the end of this tunnel, with vaccines becoming available in the coming months; but right now we are continuing to see rising numbers in COVID-19 infections in Arizona and right here in our community.
We ask that you please continue avoiding unnecessary travel or large gatherings. I realize that this may be difficult with the upcoming Holidays, but large gatherings seem to be the biggest factor in spread of COVID-19. Please wear a mask when you are in situations where you must be in close contact with people not living in your own place of residence; this is for your own protection and the protection of others. By making choices that are considerate of others, you are showing the kindness and cooperative spirit that is the true hallmark of our community.
